Services

Smart Seminar offers a limited set of structured advisory engagements for organisations and L&D professionals who need independent input — not another course catalogue.

The free content and tools on this platform are designed for individuals making decisions alone. The services below are designed for organisations and L&D teams who need structured external support for specific decisions. All engagements are advisory and delivered in writing or by structured session — not as training programmes.

Advisory
Learning Portfolio Review
L&D teams · 50–500 person organisations

An independent assessment of your current learning and development portfolio against stated organisational objectives. Delivered as a structured written report with specific recommendations for investment reallocation, provider changes, or programme additions.

Engagement includes
  • Initial scoping session to understand current portfolio, budget, and strategic objectives
  • Independent review of up to eight existing programmes or providers against the Smart Seminar evaluation framework
  • Written report with a verdict on each programme and specific recommendations
  • One follow-up session to discuss findings and answer questions
This engagement produces a structured assessment, not a procurement shortlist. We do not identify or refer specific replacement providers. We assess what you have and identify where the gaps are.
Framework Development
L&D Budget Justification Support
L&D Managers · HR Directors

Structured support for L&D managers preparing to present a training budget to a senior leadership team or board. The engagement focuses on building the business case — quantifying outcomes, benchmarking against sector norms, and developing the language that boards respond to.

Engagement includes
  • Review of current proposed budget and stated objectives
  • Application of the Smart Seminar L&D Budget Justification Framework to your specific context
  • Written business case structure with language recommendations and supporting data points
  • Review of final presentation materials before the board submission
This engagement does not produce the presentation on your behalf. It produces a structured framework and reviews your work against it. The final document remains yours and should reflect your organisation's specific context.
Certification Strategy
Certification Selection Advisory
Individuals · Team L&D decisions

A structured advisory engagement for professionals or teams making a significant certification decision. Covers credential selection, provider assessment, and timing — based on the individual's or team's specific career stage, sector, and objectives.

Engagement includes
  • Structured intake to establish role, sector, target role, and time horizon
  • Independent assessment of two or three shortlisted certifications against the Certification Value Framework
  • Written recommendation with rationale, including factors specific to the individual or team context
  • Indication of which providers to assess for the recommended certification and what to look for
This engagement covers certification selection only — it does not identify a specific provider or negotiate on your behalf. For teams, each certification assessment covers the team's collective decision, not individual variation within the team.
Strategy
L&D Strategy Development
L&D leads · HR Directors · 50–200 person organisations

Advisory support for organisations building or rebuilding an L&D strategy from the ground up. Structured around the five-stage methodology published in the Academy, but applied to your specific organisational context, budget constraints, and workforce development priorities.

Engagement includes
  • Organisational context review — strategy, workforce structure, existing development activity
  • Skills and capability gap assessment using the Smart Seminar framework
  • L&D strategy document: objectives, priorities, programme structure, budget allocation, and success metrics
  • Board presentation draft and review
  • One quarterly check-in session in the 12 months following delivery
This is the most involved engagement we offer. It is scoped for organisations with a functioning HR or people team and a dedicated L&D budget. It is not designed for start-ups or organisations without existing HR capacity.
